At New Horizons Shelter and Outreach Centers, we support victims of domestic and sexual abuse. During the holidays we see an increase of individuals and families struggle with decision making like, should they leave the abuse-if so, how would they financially succeed while also facing the financial burden that the holidays tend to have. Thankfully we have built and maintained a beautiful working relationship with Dahl Subaru who has sponsored numerous families during the holiday season. The recipients are beyond grateful of their generosity and we are so appreciative of our working relationship. Thank you Dahl Subaru for all your efforts in supporting our cause and those we serve!
Dahl Subaru reached out to a few schools in our community and provided a Holiday Meal Kit for families. At Central High, through the help of Dahl Subaru we were able to gift 85 families a meal kit. Our families were extremely grateful to our donors, which helped bring some extra holiday cheer to our Central community. We want to thank Dahl Subaru for the generosity and thoughtfulness this holiday season. Go Riverhawks!
Before the 2024 holiday break, Dahl Subaru volunteered to pay for and bring meal bags to our Logan High families in need. Recognizing the growing hardship in the community, especially with the holidays approaching, the local business partnered with the school district to donate 30 meal bags to 30 Logan High families. Dahl Subaru's staff worked side by side with our Student Services team to facilitate this plan. They packaged and dropped off the bags at the high school, so our Student Services team could distribute to families. For many families, this unexpected kindness meant more than just a meal—it was a reminder that they weren’t alone in our community. Thank you, Dahl Subaru, for going above and beyond to support our high school families and for making a lasting difference in our community. You’ve reminded us all of the power of compassion and the true meaning of giving and community.
This inspiring and heartwarming story highlights the transformative power of collaboration between organizations. Thanks to the partnership between Chariots 4 Hope WI (C4HWI) and Dahl Subaru, Amy Campbell received a reconditioned vehicle, offering her the much-needed freedom and independence to travel to work, church, and family gatherings. C4HWI’s mission to provide reliable transportation to individuals in need was made possible through this partnership, with Dahl Subaru playing a key role in reconditioning the vehicle and ensuring it was in top condition. Dahl Subaru’s involvement went beyond simply donating a vehicle. The employees generously offered their time and expertise to service the car and also donated materials to ensure it was ready for Amy. Their efforts didn’t stop there—they helped draft a press release, reached out to the media, and organized the gifting event, where all those involved were present. This genuine dedication to helping others helped change Amy’s life and provided her with the tools to move forward. The partnership between C4HWI and Dahl Subaru not only provided Amy with reliable transportation, but it also helped her gain the knowledge and confidence to manage vehicle ownership through C4HWI’s programs, which include education on budgeting and car maintenance. This holistic approach ensures that recipients like Amy can build a strong foundation for success in their new journey. Amy’s story is a testament to the power of community support and collaboration. The employees at Dahl Subaru went above and beyond, offering their time and energy with no expectation of anything in return, truly embodying the spirit of giving. Their dedication has set a shining example of how businesses and non-profits can work together to create positive change in the lives of individuals and strengthen communities. The dealership has pledged to continue providing low-cost repairs, assist in acquiring used vehicles, and offer financial support to ensure the success of C4HWI’s mission. For the past few years, New Leash on Life and Dahl Subaru have partnered for the month of October to help more homeless dogs find home, and in particular, help the underdogs get the care and training they need, and of course, help them find great homes as well. After COVID we have not gone back to public adoption events. The venues we had used are uncontrolled and not always safe for our dogs. The space at Dahl is amazing and we feel completely comfortable having our adoption event there each year. Because of our partnership, we were able to fully sponsor adoption fees of many "underdogs" and also help with vet care for others who had extraordinary needs. Thank you Dahl Subaru for continuing to partner with us and help us to help so many dogs!
As an educator at a diverse elementary school, my mission has always been to ensure every student feels valued, included, and successful. One of the most rewarding—and sometimes challenging—parts of my job is supporting newcomer students, those who are learning English for the first time. These students often come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, and they face the added challenge of language barriers in the classroom. This can leave them feeling disconnected from the lessons and isolated from their peers. I knew I needed to find a way to help these students not just survive, but thrive in their new school environment. One of my newcomer students, a 5th grader, arrived mid-year from a Spanish-speaking country. While he was eager to learn and had a natural curiosity, he struggled to follow along in class due to the language barrier. As he fell behind, his frustration grew, and he began to withdraw from classroom activities. It was heartbreaking to watch, as I knew how much potential he had, but I didn’t have the right tools to help him bridge the gap. When I learned about the Subaru Loves Learning grant, I saw it as an opportunity to make a difference. The grant supports teachers by providing resources that help them meet the unique needs of their students, and I knew it could be the key to helping my newcomer students succeed. With the funds from the grant, I was able to purchase an iPad and a set of bilingual Spanish-English books. The iPad was the first step in creating a more inclusive learning environment. With it, my student could use translation apps to quickly look up words or phrases he didn’t understand. This tool allowed him to access the same lessons and participate more fully in class. The iPad also opened the door to interactive learning apps, educational videos, and other resources that could engage him in ways that were meaningful and accessible. The bilingual books were equally important. These books provided my student with a way to connect with the literature we were working on in class, but in a language that was familiar to him. The stories mirrored the concepts we were learning, allowing him to build vocabulary in both English and Spanish, and offering him the opportunity to read and understand at his own pace. The impact of these resources was immediate and profound. As soon as my student began using the iPad to translate words and phrases, I could see his confidence start to build. He no longer felt lost or frustrated; instead, he was able to follow along with the lessons and engage in class discussions. He also began using the bilingual books to strengthen his reading skills, understanding both the English and Spanish versions of the material. This not only helped him stay on track with the curriculum but also made him feel included in the classroom. This experience showed me the power of having the right tools at the right time. With the iPad and bilingual books, my student not only gained access to the curriculum but also developed a greater sense of belonging in the classroom. He was able to learn in ways that made sense for him, and that helped him build the confidence he needed to succeed. The Subaru Loves Learning grant also benefited other newcomer students in my class. As they saw their classmate using the iPad to translate and engage with the material, they, too, felt more comfortable using the resources. The bilingual books became a shared tool for the whole class, helping to create a sense of community and mutual support. I’m incredibly grateful to Subaru Loves Learning for making this possible. The resources they provided gave my student the chance to succeed and feel included in his learning journey. Thanks to this grant, he and his classmates are now better equipped to overcome language barriers and embrace their education with confidence. This experience has reinforced my belief that every student—regardless of language, background, or challenges—deserves the opportunity to succeed. With the right resources, we can help all students feel empowered, included, and capable of achieving great things. The Subaru Loves Learning grant has been a powerful reminder of how much we can accomplish when we invest in the success of every student.
At Northern Hills, our mission is working together to achieve high levels of learning for all. We aim to be a school of excellence where we do whatever it takes to ensure all students are successful. For our population, doing whatever it takes can look a lot different from what most people remember as their school experience. Our school partners with many area agencies and organizations to provide for some of the basic needs that our students have - from helping families with extra food and clothing to stretch their budget, to providing snacks for students during the day, matching families up with the medical or dental services they need, to helping families with school supplies as well. This donation from Subaru Loves Learning has already had a big impact on our school. This not only helps cover the annual costs that come with teachers preparing their classrooms for the year, and replenishing classroom supplies throughout the year, it also gives us more flexibility with using district dollars to support our students' needs. Northern Hills Elementary, part of the School District of Onalaska, is the educational home to about 475 students during the 2024-25 school year. Over the past several years, the district has worked to reduce the burden on families needing to buy school supplies, by reducing the supply list and seeking support from the community. This donation helps our staff purchase the needed supplies for their students without having to dip into their own pockets. Every pack of markers, every stick of glue, every box of crayons - it all counts and makes a difference. Every caring adult that a student has in their life greatly increases their chances of meeting our mission of achieving high levels of learning, and success for our students later in life. The smiles on our student and staff faces are genuine, and show their true joy in having an organization such as Dahl Subaru take interest in us! We live in such a fantastic community, and we are so grateful for all the support from individuals and organizations such as Dahl Subaru. We couldn’t do the good work we do without it!
June 18th was one of the hottest and muggiest days of the year in La Crosse, WI so the patients of Gundersen Lutheran Hospital were a bit confused about why we were handing out blankets, but once they heard from Tony Benson and the other Subaru team members why they were handing out the blankets, the patients understood and were very appreciative of the gift. Many patients loved the heart shaped pillow/blanket concept and expressed their intent to bring it with them to future treatments. This partnership between Subaru of America retailers across the United States and medical facilities that support cancer patients has been going on for nine years and each delivery is just as special as the last. The handwritten messages of support from Subaru showroom customers bring smiles to patients knowing that they are not alone in their battle with cancer. Complete strangers care enough to take the time to write a message to encourage them in their fight with cancer. The smiles (and a few tears) of the patients proved the value of community support, saying they felt comforted to know that organizations like The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Dahl Subaru truly do care for them. According to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society staff member Brenda King, “The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is honored to be chosen year after year for this partnership with Subaru retailers to improve the quality of life of blood cancer patients.”
The Dahl Subaru Share The Love Event provides the La Crosse Area Family YMCA with funding to meet the greatest and most immediate needs of the community including food access, cancer survivorship programming, accessible health and wellness, mental health initiatives, and more. One of the programs supported by the Share The Love contribution is the Y's Community Health Worker Program. This program works directly with families disproportionately impacted by poverty, or who are homeless, or are at risk of experiencing homelessness. In partnership with local school districts, the Y's community health workers assist parents with finding housing, employment, healthcare, food, transportation, and basic resources, so they can get back on their feet and their children can attend and get back on track in school. At any given time, the Y's Community Health Worker Program assists 50 or more families who are facing exceedingly challenging circumstances. In early 2022, community health worker Emily received a referral to assist a family in need. Seled had just given birth and the social worker at the hospital suggested she look into the Y's program. Seled, a mother of three, decided to partner with Emily as she worked to improve her family's circumstances. For 18 months, Emily coached Seled as she worked toward her goals. They developed a close bond, and Seled found great success in providing a better life for her family with Emily's support. In the summer of 2023, the Y was searching for a Community Health Worker to join the team. Seled, with the encouragement of Emily, applied and was hired for the job. She has been an integral part of the program ever since, supporting families as she had been supported. She brings a wealth of lived experience to her position, and just as much gratitude for the support the Y extended to her during her time of need. She will frequently share that this is her way of giving back and serving others. Seled and her children are on a new trajectory of success as a result of her hard work and the Y's Community Health Worker Program. Her story is just one example of the many families who have been positively impacted by the love and support extended by the Y's community health worker team. These families are finding stability and providing a better life for their children. It is not an easy process, and there are many challenges to overcome, but with the help of the Y, there is hope for each family served. Stories like this are only possible with the support of partners like the Subaru Share the Love Event. We were fortunate to partner with Dahl Subaru and receive 180 colorful winter coats for youth sizes 4 to Large adult. The colorful coats were delivered and there were so many different options for youth to choose from. It was great to see so many options for youth to ensure each youth could find the perfect coat for them. Many of the families we serve are struggling to meet their basic needs and purchasing winter wear for their families is not possible. Donated gently used coats can't always be found in the right size. Often the families make due with what is available or try to get another season out of a almost too small coat. It is a gift to empower youth with choice and the ability to choose a new coat from the colorful options. Each youth is able to find the perfect coat for them and in a color they love. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Dahl Subaru and appreciate their donation to help spread warmth to neighboring youth. Every one deserves warmth, choice, and to know they matter. Dahl Subaru, along with its employees, has been sponsoring our New Horizons Holiday Program for a few years now. We send them "wish lists" from families that we provide services to, and Dahl's team promptly goes shopping for the gifts. They wrap and label the gifts and then reach out to us for pick up. It's an understatement to say that these families are very grateful. The thoughtfulness that goes into sponsoring these families is a beautiful sight to see. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dahl for their generosity.
Dahl Subaru has always been an outstanding company to work with. Knowing their love for community, when we need a new vehicle they are the first ones we go to! As the only FREE and LOCAL food bank, The Hunger Task Force has the incredible job of supplying area meal sites, food pantries, and youth programs with the foods they need to stock their programs. We serve 120 programs and as you can imagine, the need is great. With the end of the pandemic era food assistance programs, our job became tougher. This past summer, our food shelves became dangerously low. Especially at risk were seniors and children and we needed to be able to find the food we needed to serve them. Dahl Subaru came through in a HUGE way! They reached out, knowing that we were in need, and organized a campaign that raised nearly $10,000 to purchase our needed food items. After a successful campaign, they pulled up to our warehouse in trucks to help unload and put it on our shelves. What a crew! It was such a blessing to have this wonderful community-minded company think of us and rise to action. It literally saved our program and we could finally get food out to those in need.
Everyone at Family & Children’s Center is eternally grateful to Dahl Subaru for supporting our organization through the 15th Annual Lube-A-Thon. Thanks to the efforts of Dahl staff throughout September, a record-breaking $40,431 contribution was made to FCC. The outpouring of support is inspiring as we work to help the most vulnerable have the tools they need to lead more stable and productive lives. It is only possible through your giving and others that we are able to make such inroads to care for those who have struggled in our communities. The gifts will strengthen and expand child abuse prevention programs, increase mental health counseling, support healthy family enrichment services, and provide substance abuse assistance. Your giving is vital in the face of significant budget cuts the agency is experiencing. Over the 15 years of Dahl’s tremendous support of Family & Children’s Center during the Lube-A-Thon, nearly $200,000 has been raised for FCC to provide services in La Crosse, Wis., and Winona, Minn., as well as Viroqua, Sparta and Black River Falls, Wis. We are so appreciative of the support of Dahl Subaru, your contribution is helping paint brighter futures for our 5,500 clients.
After taking about 8 years off of full time teaching, I am so thankful for Dahl Subaru's significant donation to my classroom budget as I jump back into a profession I love so much. It shows how much you value teachers and value the importance of every child receiving an education. With the school year just beginning and me just getting to know all my students, I am making a very detailed list of items I know would benefit and aid in my student's learning. From furniture to hands-on learning games to new technology, I am amazed by all the options I have when deciding what exactly I want in my classroom. Whether it's team building games, new books for my classroom library, a new phonics center, or just a fun activity for us to play together, I know that each item will make a difference in my classroom. Our friends at Dahl Subaru partnered with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society® (LLS) to deliver hope and warmth to blood cancer patients at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center on June 27th. Subaru representatives, Tony and Amanda, worked alongside hospital staff to unpack Dahl Subaru’s generous donation of 80 blankets, 10 patient care kits, and Messages of Hope for families facing cancer. This incredible act of generosity was warmly received by hospital staff and cancer patients at the hospital. Thank you so much Dahl Subaru staff for providing messages of hope and reminding cancer patients that there’s a big community supporting them along their journey!

Dahl Subaru donated a basketball hoop and two basketballs to our Innovative Service Onalaska Youth Program! At this location we serve youth who qualify for Mental Health or Waiver Services. Thank You to Dahl Subaru La Crosse for supporting two local families through New Horizons Shelter & Outreach Centers. Dahl brought together multiple branches of the community, which helped to fulfill these families' wish lists. These branches included: Marcus Theatres who provided future family entertainment with the gifting of movie tickets. Sue Kolve's Salon & Day Spa donated haircuts and products to three little boys whose number one request was a simple haircut. Craig Newsome (retired Packer Cornerback) who donated his time and signed memorabilia to make a father's ultimate Christmas dreams come true. Lastly, the Subaru Staff who provided thousands in donations, time shopping, collaboration with the community, and the oh so loved or dreaded wrapping of the gifts. More local children will be able to benefit from child abuse prevention services due to a $29,870 contribution from Dahl Automotive after the organization’s 14th annual Lube-A-Thon. Dahl Subaru staff presented the check to Family & Children’s Center leadership on November 18. With the support of several area businesses and community partners, Dahl provided a $5 discount on all of their oil changes and donated $5 to Family & Children’s Center. Guests were encouraged to match Dahl’s $5 donation, and contributions were also made by Dahl team members. The fundraising event was held during the month of September. Dahl Subaru has raised more than $200,000 through their annual Lube-A-Thon. This year, the funds raised will once again to support Family & Children’s Center’s child abuse prevention programs Healthy Families and Stepping Stones in La Crosse, and Matty’s Place in Winona. Through this fundraiser and other annual support from Dahl Automotive, the company is showing its dedication to Family & Children’s Center’s relentless efforts to end child abuse in our communities. Founded in 1881, Family & Children’s Center is a regional, nonprofit agency that has helped thousands of children, adults and families enjoy better tomorrows. The center provides a continuum of services designed to strengthen families and promote individual well-being, including child abuse/neglect prevention programs, alternative schools, community-based counseling, community support programs for people seeking recovery from severe mental illness, residential treatment options and several outreach programs. Family & Children’s Center is nationally accredited. With headquarters in La Crosse, and Winona, the center serves people throughout Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota and has additional offices in Black River Falls, Sparta, and Viroqua.
Dahl Subaru was able to partner with Chariots 4 Hope and gifted a vehicle to a woman in need. C4H is a non for profit organization that takes donated vehicles and dollars, reconditions those vehicles, and then gifts them to people who need reliable transportation. C4H was looking for a partner to assist in the reconditioning process to make sure these vehicles are ready to go and reliable for recipients. Dahl Subaru was able to secure a vehicle, employees donated time and materials to service it, and change a woman's life. Grace Jacobson now has the freedom to drive herself to and from work, church, and to visit family. It was amazing to see how much time and effort was donated by the employees of Dahl. They went above and beyond for us and asked for nothing in return. They helped draft a press release, made some phone calls to media, arranged the gifting, had all employees involved present at the gifting, and helped make this happen. This was our organizations first blessing, and it could not have happened without Dahl Subaru. Chariots 4 Hope develops programs that teach about vehicle ownership, budgets, and helps provide a strong foundation for their recipients to fall back on with vehicle ownership. Again we are so thankful for the partnership we have with Dahl and the Subaru store.
As part of Subaru's Share the Love Event, Dahl Subaru gave over $15,000 to the La Crosse Area Family YMCA on April 6th, 2022. The YMCA will put that money into its Annual Campaign that helps low income families be able to afford a membership at the Y. The fund also go towards the many programs at the Y including the Youth Center and the Cancer Survivorship Program. "Support from Dahl Subaru has been so important to us for, gosh, probably 50, 70 years, longer than that, and the relationship has meant so much to us because this provides funding to our annual campaign," said Bill Soper, CEO of the La Crosse Family YMCA. Three generations of the Dahl family, Kenneth Dahl, Harry Dahl, and Andrew Dahl, have served the YMCA as board members, capital campaign chairs, and volunteers in youth programs spanning nearly 70 years. YMCA recognized this passionate leadership by naming the Dahl Family YMCA in honor of this service. Throughout this time, the Dahl family has donated over 1 million dollars to various campaigns allowing the La Crosse Area YMCA to add a second location, grow its membership, and continue the incredible work in this community.
The patients of Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center were the recipients of beautiful, 80 warm fleece blankets, 10 arts and craft kits, and words of hope from the staff of Dahl Subaru in La Crosse, WI. This generous gift of warmth is so much more than a blanket; while it is certainly practical as the patients receive their hours-long infusions, it is also a symbol of the hope and support of the La Crosse community. Dahl Subaru Sales Manager Tony Benson says, “It hits close to home. I have friends and family members that have been impacted by cancer. (This helps us) let them know someone is thinking of them outside of their family and friends — that the community does care. It’s nice to be able to do that for people.” Subaru team members greeted oncology patients in the lobby, handed them a blanket and offered them a smile. Patients of other local infusion and cancer centers will be blessed with the remaining blankets, and Gundersen staff will also be distributing arts and craft kits to their Pediatric Oncology patients. The Onalaska High School Drama Club members and youth at the Children’s Tree House wrote cards to accompany the arts and craft kits, making this an even more meaningful gift for patients and providing a great philanthropic opportunity for community youth. Gundersen’s motto of wrapping patients in “love and medicine” was exemplified on this day. The Gundersen staff expressed a deep appreciation for the partnership with Dahl Subaru. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is proud to be able to connect generous businesses with our local healthcare facilities to show cancer patients that their community supports them in their cancer journey.
Dahl Subaru shares the love with those who need it most, and for Family and Children’s Center, those who need love the most are oftentimes children. Dahl Subaru donated $32,610, its largest contribution of 13 years from its annual Lube-A-Thon event to support child abuse prevention programs. Thank you Dahl Subaru for making a difference in the lives of children and families. Unfortunately, child abuse is wide-spread and can have substantial long-term effects on children and their families. Children who have been abused show some or all of the following behaviors: depression, anxiety, aggression, nightmares, regression, bedwetting, changes in routine activities and inappropriate sexual activity. Adult victims of abuse often have low self-esteem, social difficulties, have difficulty maintaining employment, and are three times more likely to commit violent crimes. The most significant result of abuse is persistent mental illness, which can greatly affect the ability of an individual to function productively on a regular basis. Untreated mental illness often leads to homelessness, incarceration, violence, victimization, suicide and reliance on government funded support programs. Prevention is key. That is why Dahl Subaru’s investment in Family and Children’s Center prevention programs is so critical. Dahl Subaru promoted the Lube-A-Thon, their employees participated and donated, and most importantly, they communicated to their patrons the importance of the event. As a result, they held the most successful event in the history of the Lube-A-Thon. From the leadership team, to sales, to client care, service, parts and detail, the members of the Dahl Subaru family support and strengthen the communities they serve. Family and Children’s Center truly appreciates Dahl Subaru’s commitment to supporting prevention programs, serving the community, and sharing the love.
When Zoey came to us in July, 2021, she was very scared and afraid. She hid in the back of her cage and would shake when people came near her. She had been surrendered by her owner who made the heart wrenching decision it would be best for Zoey to find a new home. Her human also had a large dog with a loud bark that frightened Zoey. She hid behind the couch a lot of the day and as a result, she became very obese from lack of activity. Fluoxetine was prescribed to help with her anxiety without much success. She was also started on urinary food for stress bladder. Fortunately she had not yet developed any health problems due to her obesity. Due to all her fears, she was placed in a quiet foster home with no other pets. She eventually came out of her shell and her personality blossomed. She had no applications filled out for her until the increased awareness brought on by Subaru Loves Pets. She finally received an applications and fortunately for Zoey, it was a perfect match. She is no longer on her medication and is a much calmer, happier cat that can now relax in her current environment. She can be much more active now as well. She receives lots of pets and love from her new owner She has also been a perfect fit for her new human who says, "She always has to be the center of attention in the best way and will let you know when she wants pets by meowing at you. She is definitely independent but knows exactly when you need her support and loves to sit and watch movies or tv with you." Subaru has been a wonderful partner and seems to truly care about helping animals. Their donations will help us to continue helping more cats and dogs in the future! Thank you Subaru!
The La Crosse Area Family YMCA would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dahl Subaru of La Crosse for their support of our Y and our Youth Food Program! The donation we received helped us continue to provide more than 700 free meals to children in our community every day. This summer, we were able to expand our food program to additional locations so that we could help more children receive the nutritious fuel they need to be happy, healthy, and productive humans. This would not be possible without the generosity of individuals and businesses, like Dahl Subaru of La Crosse and the Dahl family. This year has been a rollercoaster ride for many, and while we have had to change, adapt, and rethink many things, one thing has stayed consistent, and that is the animals that need our help. Dahl Subaru helping us by donating up to $3,100 will provide a great deal of support to help current and future animals in our care. This year we have had numerous medical bills for everything up to eye removal to leg amputations, as well as severe dental and various other medical procedures. One of the many who needed our care was Mimi. She was found in a car's undercarriage, where she had been hiding for over an hour. With the help of a passerby, her rescuers tried to coax her out by using a jack to lift the vehicle so they could free her. They reached out to Animal Control, who brought her to the shelter where her only significant injury was a swollen bottom lip. After a few weeks in foster care, Mimi was ready to go to her new forever family. Earlier this year, a stray dog named Rocky came into our care. It was apparent from the start that his previous family did not meet Rocky's grooming and health needs. Not only was Rocky's coat matted and dirty, but it was evident that he would also require dental and significant eye care. His left eye was severely infected, and his right eye looked like it had glaucoma. We were able to get Rocky seen, and thanks to a generous donor, we were able to turn Rocky's health back around. Now Rocky is living his best life with a family that deeply loves him. These are just a few of the many animals that we have helped this year. With Dahl Subaru's donation, we know that we will help many more animals in the future.
Dahl Automotive continues to step up and serve our community! No one knew, the twists and turns that 2020 would bring but Dahl Automotive has risen to the occasion, adapted and has found new ways to continue to support the communities they serve! Family & Children’s Center is forever grateful for all the support they have provided to our child abuse prevention and early intervention programming. Dahl Automotive has led by example, giving personal gifts and encouraging all of their employees to step up and volunteer their time and talent to give back. Every year, their employees have answered that challenge. While they were unable to host their traditional Lube- A Thon weekend event, they turned the one day event into a month long event to ensure our most vulnerable community members are receiving the help that they need - through their incredible generosity. Dahl knows and understands that only 1 in 3 children ever get reported for abuse – and 1 in 10 children will be the victims of sexual abuse by the time they are 18. This means that on every playground, classroom, places where kids congregate someone is being harmed, will be harmed or will be harmed in the past. Dahl Automotive has said, not on our watch. They have been an amazing partner and really care about making our community a better place! Not just for us but for all those they give back to.
Every day, the La Crosse Area Family YMCA offers programs and services that help address needs in our community - and we can't do it alone. We would like to express our gratitude to Dahl Subaru for their generosity and support of our Youth Summer Food Program. During the summer months, 1 in 5 youth in our community are at risk of hunger because they cannot count on meals at school. This year, when schools closed more than two months ahead of schedule, the need for this program became more critical. Dahl Subaru played an important role in helping the Y serve 3,000 free meals weekly to youth and families. The Dahl Family is proud to announce the establishment of an internal team member fund to better support our team members and their families, during the pandemic and beyond. “Our team is our number one priority, every day. This fund will provide financial assistance to team members and their families who are currently experiencing hardships” says Andrew Dahl. The Dahl Family (Andrew, Jansen, Tyler and Harry) have individually seeded the fund with combined contributions totaling $50,000. The funds will be distributed to team members through an internal grant process, with the first funds expected to be distributed by the end of April.Other ways that Dahl Automotive is helping support our team: • Continuing to provide updates, through detailed communications, on how to best protect our team’s health and well-being • Focusing on continued employment and financial security as additional top priorities for our team • Giving full time team members additional Paid Time Off days to use as needed• Committing to our team that they will make as much or more than the increased unemployment rate while working during this essential time • Providing individual guidance to each team member on the availability of government programs and ensuring that our team has a full understanding and access to these programs One of Dahl Automotive’s Core Values is: “Promote Giving Back to the Community.” Dahl Automotive is assisting the La Crosse Warming Center with donation pick-ups for its new location at Cathedral School. The Dahl Ford Lincoln dealership has donated the use of a Ford Transit van to be used for donation pick-ups from the community.The Dahl Family Foundation is also contributing $25,000 to the La Crosse Community Foundation’s La Crosse Area Emergency Response Fund, and $25,000 to the Winona Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund. These two donations will help those most in need, through charitable organizations in each community.
On September 21st, 2019, Dahl Subaru hosted their 11th annual Lube-A-Thon to benefit the Family and Children's Center of La Crosse. Dahl Subaru's employees donated their time and all of the supplies were donated so that 100% of the proceeds went to the Family and Children's Center to use towards their Child Abuse Prevention Programs in the La Crosse area. This year, we raised $15,000 for the Family and Children's Center. It feels great to partner with an organization that does so much for the families in our community.
For the 5th year, the Coulee Region Humane Society partnered with Dahl Subaru to help dogs find loving forever homes and help bring attention to the many cats and kittens in our care. This event is huge for us at the humane society because it gives us an opportunity to go into the community and spread the word about all of the animals that are waiting to find new homes. Additionally, Dahl Subaru covered the cost of adoption for the dogs that were featured making it possible to find homes for harder to place dogs that may have been a resident at our shelter for longer than we would hope for. In the end this event was a great success with every dog being adopted! We're so grateful for our continued partnership with Dahl Subaru.
Dahl Subaru and the Wisconsin Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society visited the Gundersen Cancer Center on Thursday, July 18 to show their support for patients undergoing chemotherapy.As part of the national "Subaru Loves to Care" campaign, team members from Dahl Subaru brought blankets, craft kits, and handwritten messages of encouragement from their employees and customers and delivered them to individuals receiving cancer treatment. Both the Gundersen staff and the patients LOVE this program. We are so truly lucky to have Dahl Subaru give generously and support the La Crosse area cancer patients!

For the 4th year, Dahl Subaru hosted a Pet Adoption Event in partnership with the Coulee Region Humane Society. For one day, the CRHS brought dogs and cats to the Dahl Subaru dealership in hopes to find good homes for these wonderful animals. The day was an enormous success because every dog was adopted in addition to many cats. To help in this great mission, Dahl Subaru paid all adoption fees for the day which really helped those wonderful people that chose to bring an animal home.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was fortunate enough to team up again with Tyler Dahl, Mark Hammerstrom and Josh Fruechte of Dahl Subaru to deliver blankets, craft kits and messages of hope to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital. The patients were so very thankful for the blankets and messages of hope. They appreciated knowing that members in the community were thinking of them at a difficult time in their lives. Thank you, Dahl Subaru for your continued efforts and support in bringing love, hope and warmth to cancer patients and their families. The Subaru Loves to Care demonstrates an act of love and respect to customers and creates a positive impact in the community, and Dahl Subaru does just that. The Dahl Family and Dahl Subaru have been doing right by the community and giving back to strengthen the community through the Y for many, many years. The commitment from the Dahl Family to the Y in our community has been nothing short of astounding. The Dahl Family has provided three generations of Y Board Leadership, leadership to two significant capital campaigns, and more than 100 years of collective service as Y volunteers. Dahl Subaru has been a great partner and gives love back to the community by presenting the annual Y Kids Triathlon, sponsoring memberships for hundreds of deserving children and teens in the community, sponsoring several annual events that fund the mental health work at our Community Teen Center, and by supporting programs that focus on chronic disease prevention and reclaiming health. Most recently, the Dahl Family made the extraordinary decision to name our La Crosse Y facility as the new Dahl Family YMCA. Dahl Subaru and the Dahl Family have been instrumental in the growth and success of the La Crosse YMCA and the support from Dahl Subaru has positioned our Y to be able to serve more than 32,000 children, teens, adults and seniors annually.
Dahl Subaru has become an integral and exciting part of the La Crosse Omnium, the largest three-day cycling event in America. The three stage race is held each year on the first weekend in May, and this year attracted upwards of 400 cyclists in each of the three racing events that include the Grandad Bluff Time Trial, Road Race, and Downtown Criterium, where the finest pros in the Midwest compete elbow to elbow on the one mile closed course in downtown La Crosse. Criterium race organizers again this year used a Dahl Subaru Crosstrek to lead and protect large packs of Criterium cyclists around the course, keeping the road clear of overly enthusiastic spectators and announcing the arrival of the circling packs of riders. Up to 80 cyclists reach speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour as teams race for just over an hour and then each team attempts to deliver their best sprinter to the front of the peleton on the final bell lap for the winning sprint finish. The Subaru Crosstrek provides an extra layer of needed safety for the cyclists, as they are free to concentrate on winning their event on a closed course free of well-intentioned spectators. This was the second year in a row a Dahl Subaru graciously supported the La Crosse Omnium with the Subaru Crosstrek and Dahl Subaru is on board and looking forward to leading even larger packs of cyclists in 2017.
Dahl Subaru of La Crosse partnered with Mississippi Valley Conservancy and WEAU Fox 25/48 to raise awareness of how Driftless Area residents can support land protection through an exclusive Driftless Earth Day Countdown. The countdown featured numerous Driftless Earth Day initiatives and culminated with a broadcast of “Mysteries of the Driftless”, sponsored by Dahl Subaru. This 30 minute Emmy winning documentary produced by Mississippi Valley Conservancy, aired on Fox 25/48 at 6:30 PM on Earth Day. Founded by Wisconsin Governor and Senator Gaylord Nelson, Earth Day is an international celebration of environmental preservation that is held annually on April 22nd. Mississippi Valley Conservancy is a regional, non-profit land trust based in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The Conservancy has permanently protected more than 17,300 acres of bluffs, prairies, forests, farms, wetlands, and streams in southwestern Wisconsin. Dahl Subaru has supported numerous events for Mississippi Valley Conservancy over the years and Dahl Subaru’s commitment to green business practices made them a natural partner for this Earth Day celebration. From the revitalization of existing buildings and the construction of new green facilities Dahl Subaru has become a role model for business leaders and others in the community who are also seeking to go green. Over the holidays Dahl Subaru customers could choose a charity to receive a $250 donation from Subaru of America. I bet you can imagine how delighted we were to be chosen as the recipient, but what we didn't expect was the magnitude of this gift. Dahl ended up generously matching the contribution resulting in $24,000 donated to Family Children's Center! The impact that this gift has on Family Children's Center is beyond words. The dollars will be used to support programs that are proven to break the negative cycle of abuse. Because we rely on support from the community to provide these programs, Share the Love dollars will go a long way in preventing child abuse in our region. With this gift, Dahl Subaru is helping parenting teen and expectant moms receive a high school accreditation while also receiving valuable parenting skills. They are helping new parents under the stress of poverty or substance abuse recovery care for their babies in a healthy way. And they are helping prevent further abuse for a child with early intervention and support systems. More importantly, this gift is helping provide better tomorrows for all who seek comfort and care at Family Children's Center. We want to extend the biggest thanks possible to Dahl Subaru for supporting children and families in the La Crosse area. We can't end the cycle of abuse without you and are so grateful for your support with this Share the Love gift. Thank you!
For the past 7 summers, the Dahl Subaru Team has shut down their service department for a day to offer free oil changes and car washes in exchange for a donation to Family & Children's Center. All Dahl team members volunteer their time, and vendors donate materials to allow 100% of proceeds raised to go right back to the community. Since inception, the Lube-A-Thon has raised tens of thousands of dollars and provided several thousand free oil changes and car washes. All funds support the Center's child abuse prevention programs which help enable happy, healthy homes for hundreds of kids and families in the Coulee Region who would otherwise be living at risk of child abuse. This is an incredible event run by an incredible team. Family & Children's Center's ongoing partnership with Dahl Subaru has brought invaluable exposure and credibility to our mission.
